New Year Car Care

Ringing in the New Year is such an exciting time for many. Resolutions are made with every intention of sticking to them.  Whether changes in lifestyle, diet, exercise, or social behaviors, no matter what you set out to accomplish, there’s nothing stopping you. Well, unless of course, you get a flat tire. While making your list of things to think about in 2014, be sure to include a regular care and maintenance plan for your vehicle.

Resolve to be nicer to your vehicle

While most people resolve to change their diet and exercise plan in order to get their body into better shape, there are other things just as important that needed changing. Imagine treating your vehicle the same way you used to treat your body? Too much fat and not enough fruits and veggies? Think about too much wear and tear on tires and not enough oil changes? Resolve to spend just as much attention this year to your vehicle that you do your health. For every mile you run, piece of fruit you grab, or walk around the block you take, measure your tire’s pressure, check for leaks, have the oil and filters changed, or take your vehicle in for a tune-up.

Be loyal to those you know and trust

Keeping up with the maintenance on your vehicle is important. Finding a mechanic or auto repair shop that you trust and staying loyal to them will bid you well. Taking your vehicle into the same shop to be worked on by the same people is just the same as you being regularly seen by the same doctor. Using the same professional to complete your service needs will allow for better tracking and upkeep of your vehicle’s maintenance. The mechanic will be better suited to notice any irregularities, inconsistencies, or things that just seem out of the ordinary. As an added bonus, some shops may offer a customer loyalty program that rewards customers for continued or repeated service visits.

Less repairs means spending less money

Those who don’t take care of their health tend to get sick more often, requiring more frequent trips to the doctor, drug store, or pharmacy. And when someone is sick, life is never fun for that person or those around them. With this being said, taking care of yourself through a proper diet and exercise plan can mean fewer trips to the doctor and more money in your pocket. The same can be said for your vehicle. Come up with a regular maintenance schedule for your vehicle and stick to it. Pay attention to the warning signs your car gives you. Get the oil changed regularly. Rotate the tires. Change filters. Check the tire pressure. By doing all these and more, your vehicle will stay in better shape and so will your wallet.
